Many independent scientific studies have demonstrated the academic benefits of After School Programs including sports. These programs add structure and focus to kids’ lives, provide supervision, help fight childhood obesity, and improve academic, physical, and psychological well-being.  After School Programs improve grades including overall GPA, standardized test schools, work habits, school attendance, teamwork, leadership, self-efficacy, and critical thinking (America After 3PM 2015).  More than 4 in 5 parents of kids in after school programs feel their kids are less likely to engage in risky behavior such as commit crimes, use drugs, or become a teen parent.  88% of parents feel after school programs help their children improve their social skills.  83% of parents themselves feel after school programs help working parents keep their jobs (America After 3PM 2015).
